Torremolinos

Torremolinos on Spain's Costa del Sol is one of the most famous gay strongholds in Europe, famous for its mild Mediterranean climate, long nightlife and party mood all year round. With over 300 days of sunshine, the place remains pleasantly warm even in winter. The heart of the scene is La Nogalera, a plaza where dozens of gay bars, clubs, cafes and restaurants are condensed into one large square. Codigo hosts drag and cabaret shows seven nights a week, you can dance at glamorous Centuryon, one of the city's biggest clubs, and Aqua picks up the pace with house beats and gets cruisier later in the evening. Right on the beach is the Eden Beach Club, the scene of the biggest gay day parties with guest DJs and sea views, right next to the popular El Gato Lounge to see and be seen.

The adjacent beach section is the classic gay beach of the village, good for relaxing hours in the sun between cocktails and beats. The highlight is the Torremolinos Pride at the end of May to the beginning of June, a multi-day festival that attracts over 100,000 people and culminates with the legendary Eden Closing Party. It is most beautiful from May to September; Spring and early autumn bring warmth and manageable crowds. Torremolinos is inexpensive, very open and easy to reach for German travelers.
