Sitges
Sitges is located about 35 kilometers south of Barcelona and is considered one of the most gay-friendly small towns in Europe. The best time to visit is from May to September, but two highlights stand out: Gay Pride in June and the exuberant Carnaval in February. Your walk will take you through the old town with its narrow streets and the striking church of Sant Bartomeu by the sea. Queer life takes place around Carrer del Pecat, the bar mile jokingly called Sins Street with restaurants like Parrots. During the day you can go to the Platja de la Bassa Rodona, the classic gay beach directly on the promenade, or on to the naturist Playa del Muerto. Sitges combines laid-back beach life, Mediterranean cuisine and lively nightlife in a small space. Thanks to its proximity to Barcelona, your stay can be ideally combined with a city trip.
