Madrid
Madrid is the queer capital of Spain, and the centerpiece is the Chueca neighborhood, one of the most well-known and confident gay neighborhoods in the world. The Plaza de Chueca is lined with bars, cafés, boutiques and clubs, and the attitude to life is open and exuberant. The most pleasant months to travel are spring and autumn, because Madrid can get very hot in the middle of summer. If you're looking for hustle and bustle, plan your trip around MADO, the huge Pride at the end of June and beginning of July, when the city celebrates with one of the largest parades in Europe. During the day, explore the art mile with the Prado and Reina Sofía, stroll through Retiro Park, or enjoy tapas in the city's markets. In the evening, head back to Chueca, where the nightlife pulsates until the early hours of the morning. Madrid offers you culture, culinary diversity and a queer scene full of joie de vivre.
