Provincetown
Provincetown, affectionately known as P-Town, is a place like no other: a small fishing and artist village at the very tip of Cape Cod that transforms into one of the queriest communities in the world in the summer. The central Commercial Street runs along the harbour, lined with galleries, boutiques, guesthouses, bars and drag shows, whose stars personally invite you to the evening performance during the day. All around, wide dunes and beaches such as Herring Cove beckon, ideal for swimming and sunbathing. P-Town thrives on its thematic weeks: Bear Week, Carnival with a big parade in August and many other events each attract thousands. The atmosphere is relaxed, familiar and warm - you can reach almost everything on foot or by bike. The season runs from June to September, and it is at its busiest and liveliest in midsummer. Arrival usually via Boston by ferry or car.
