Gay bars in Pattaya are spread over three fixed districts, and once you know the system, you will quickly find your way around. The most famous address is Boyztown at the far end of Beach Road, where 3 show bars, go-go bars and small pubs are lined up around Pattayaland Soi. Boyz Boyz Boyz is considered the first gay venue in the city and has been running for over twenty years. For pre-drinking with a view of the action, the Panorama Pub with its roof terrace is suitable. Things are much cheaper and quieter in Sunee Plaza, a courtyard complex south of second street. Mainly older guests sit here. Many bars have closed over the years, but a few classics such as the Diamond Bar have persisted.

The third and now liveliest area is not in Pattaya itself, but further south in the Jomtien Complex. On two blocks, bars, restaurants and massage parlors are crowded close together, and the crowd is more mixed and younger than at Sunee Plaza. Usually around 10 p.m., the show bars in the complex start their program. Before 9 p.m., there is little going on in Pattaya, but the night often drags on until the early hours of the morning. Very few restaurants charge admission. Beverage prices are well below European levels.
