Schwule Sehenswürdigkeiten in Sao Paulo führen fast zwangsläufig zur Avenida Paulista, der Prachtstraße im Herzen der Stadt. Jedes Jahr im Juni findet hier die Parada do Orgulho LGBT statt, die größte Pride-Parade der Welt, die Millionen Menschen auf die Straße bringt. Treffpunkt ist das Kunstmuseum MASP mit seinem markanten roten Baukörper, von dem aus sich der Zug über die Avenida Paulista bewegt. Mehr als ein Umzug ist die Parade ein stadtweites Ereignis mit Musikwagen, Shows und einem Publikum, das von früh bis spät feiert. 2026 fällt der Höhepunkt auf das 30-jährige Jubiläum.
Auch abseits der Parade lohnt sich ein Streifzug durch das schwule Kernviertel Consolacao mit der Rua Frei Caneca, an der Geschichte und Gegenwart der Szene sichtbar werden. An Sonntagen ist die Avenida Paulista selbst für den Verkehr gesperrt, sodass sie sich in eine Flaniermeile mit Straßenmusik und Ständen verwandelt. In der Nähe liegen das MASP, der Parque Trianon und weiter im Zentrum die Praca da Republica und der Largo do Arouche, ein traditionsreicher Treffpunkt der queeren Community.
