Every year in June, the Parada do Orgulho LGBT takes place here, the largest Pride parade in the world, which brings millions of people to the streets. The meeting point is the MASP art museum with its striking red structure, from which the procession moves along Avenida Paulista. More than a parade, the parade is a city-wide event with music floats, shows, and an audience that celebrates from dawn to dusk. In 2026, the highlight will be the 30th anniversary.
Away from the parade, it's also worth taking a stroll through the gay core district of Consolação with Rua Frei Caneca, where the history and present of the scene become visible. On Sundays, Avenida Paulista itself is closed to traffic, so it turns into a promenade with street music and stalls. Nearby are the MASP, the Parque Trianon and, further down, the Praca da Republica and the Largo do Arouche, a traditional meeting place for the queer community.
