Gay hotels and gay-friendly accommodations in Sao Paulo are best found around Avenida Paulista, i.e. in the Consolacao and Jardins districts. If you live in Consolacao, the scene is practically on your doorstep, as Rua Frei Caneca and Rua Augusta are within walking distance, and the metro along Paulista will take you quickly to the rest of the city. Jardins is quieter and more upscale, although this neighbourhood is also popular with queer guests and only a few minutes away from the nightlife mile. Both areas are well connected and are considered safe for the district scale of Sao Paulo.
There is hardly a clearly defined gay hotel scene like in some European cities. On the other hand, the central districts are open enough that a double room for two men does not cause any demand anywhere. Some houses explicitly advertise their queer-friendly attitude, many others are simply a matter of course. Which location is worthwhile depends on your plans. If you are out and about a lot in the evening, Consolacao is the closest to bars and clubs. In Jardins you are a little more reserved and still have short distances. Plan early if your visit falls on the Pride weekend in June, as the houses near Avenida Paulista fill up quickly.
