Gay attractions in Barcelona will take you to Gaixample, the queer neighborhood in the Eixample Esquerra. Around Carrer del Consell de Cent, the scene can be explored on foot, past the bars, cafés and shops that characterise the district. Located in the middle of the Eixample, the 19th-century urban expansion area with its famous checkerboard grid, the district combines scene and classical architecture on a walk. A few steps away are the Passeig de Gràcia and Gaudí buildings such as Casa Batlló, the major tourist destinations.

Catalonia is considered one of the most progressive regions in Europe when it comes to LGBT rights, and this can be felt in the city's open climate. The highlight of the year is Pride: in 2026, the big parade will move from Plaça Universitat via Gran Via to Passeig de Lluís Companys on July 18. Immediately afterwards, the Circuit Festival at the beginning of August transforms the city into one of the largest queer meeting places of the European summer for about a week. If you want to get to know Barcelona away from the pure postcard motifs, you will find your own approach to the queer life of the city. The following places and events will take you to the most important stations.
