Centro is the historic heart of Mexico City, where colonial buildings, sprawling squares and important museums meet small shops, markets and a lot of everyday life. This creates an atmosphere that is both monumental and urban. Walking through the neighborhood will find quiet courtyards next to busy streets and get to know the city from a central, authentic perspective.
Gay attractions in Mexico City will take you to the Zona Rosa, the queer neighborhood in the Cuauhtémoc district. Around Calle Amberes, the scene can be explored on foot, past bars, cafés and shops that have shaped the district since the 1990s. Located directly on the Paseo de la Reforma, the large boulevard with the Ángel de la Independencia, the district combines scene and city history on a walk. From here, the historic center with the Zócalo and the Bosque de Chapultepec are easily accessible.
Mexico City is one of the most progressive cities in Latin America in terms of LGBT rights, and same-sex marriages have been possible here since 2010. The highlight of the year is Pride, which is one of the largest in Latin America with around a quarter of a million participants. On Saturday, June 27, 2026, the Marcha del Orgullo will move from the Ángel de la Independencia via the Paseo de la Reforma to the Zócalo, accompanied by events throughout the Pride week.
