Gay bars in Mexico City are mainly located in the Zona Rosa, the gay district in the Cuauhtémoc district. The central axis of the scene is Calle Amberes, where bars, clubs and cafés are lined up close together. Since the 1990s, the neighbourhood has become a meeting place for the queer community, and it is just a few steps from Paseo de la Reforma. During the day, the area feels bustling and bourgeois. In the evening, the streets fill up, and on weekends life drags on until well after midnight.

The offer ranges from the relaxed cocktail bar to cantina bars with Latin American music to larger clubs with drag and cabaret shows. Some houses cater to specific groups, such as the bear scene, while others focus on karaoke, go-go dancers or DJ sets. If you like it quieter, you will also find queer-friendly addresses in the neighboring districts of Roma and Condesa to warm up before continuing to the Zona Rosa. In Mexico City, people tend to go out late, and many clubs don't get going until after midnight. Around the Pride at the end of June, the district becomes international and crowded.
