Gay Bars in Medellín sammeln sich vor allem im Süden der Stadt, im Stadtteil El Poblado. Die größte Dichte an Lokalen liegt rund um die Fußgängerstraße Provenza und den Parque Lleras, von kleinen Cocktailbars über Tienda-Bars im traditionellen Stil bis zu Clubs mit Drag-Shows und Tanzfläche. Eine offizielle Gay-Meile gibt es nicht. In der Praxis aber ist El Poblado der Mittelpunkt des queeren Ausgehens, gut zu Fuß zu erkunden und am Wochenende voll. Provenza selbst ist nur wenige Blocks lang, dafür dicht an Restaurants und Bars gereiht.
Neben El Poblado lohnt sich ein Blick nach Laureles-Estadio, das ruhiger und lokaler ist und einige szenige Adressen hat. Typisch für Medellín ist die Mischung aus Reggaetón, Salsa und elektronischer Musik, oft mit Show-Programm und Karaoke. Ausgegangen wird spät. Vor Mitternacht bleibt vieles überschaubar, danach füllen sich die Clubs zügig. Die Stadt liegt im Tal von Aburrá auf rund 1.500 Metern und ist über die Metro samt Seilbahnen gut vernetzt. Für die kurzen Wege rund um den Parque Lleras bietet sich abends ein Taxi oder Fahrdienst an. Wer zum Pride Ende Juni anreist, trifft auf ein deutlich internationaleres Publikum und volle Lokale.
