Gay attractions in London will take you to Soho, which has been a center of queer life for centuries and became the visible heart of the scene in the 20th century. Around Old Compton Street are places with their own history, most notably the Admiral Duncan pub, which became a symbol of community cohesion after the 1999 bombing and commemorates the victims. Not far away, on Adelaide Street near Trafalgar Square, is the sculpture in honour of Oscar Wilde with his famous quote about the stars.

If you want to delve deeper into the city's queer history, Soho has plenty of other traces, from old bars to sites of the AIDS movement, and you can explore them on one of the guided tours of the neighborhood. The highlight of the year is Pride in London: in 2026, the parade will move from Hyde Park Corner via Piccadilly, Regent Street and Oxford Street to Whitehall, past Trafalgar Square, on Saturday 4 July. Hundreds of thousands are then on the streets, admission to the stages is free. Even away from the well-known tourist destinations, London can be rediscovered through its queer history.
