London
London has one of the largest and most diverse queer scenes in Europe. The classic starting point is Soho around Old Compton Street, where bars, cafés and clubs are lined up close together. South of the Thames is Vauxhall, with its big clubs and the famous Royal Vauxhall Tavern. In East London, around Dalston and Hackney, you'll find an alternative, queer-feminist scene with collectives and drag nights. Pride in London in the summer is one of the largest parades on the continent. The city is also culturally worthwhile: queer plays in the West End, the festival program and LGBTQ-related exhibitions. London is expensive, but thanks to the tube and buses it is well developed and overall very safe. Important for arrival: As a German citizen, you do not need a visa, but since April 2, 2025, you do need an ETA for a fee, which you can apply for online in advance.
