Gay sights in Paris almost inevitably lead to the Marais, the historic queer district in the center of the city. The alleys around Rue des Archives and Rue Vieille du Temple are easy to explore on foot, past rainbow flags, bookshops and cafés that have been part of the scene for years. At the same time, the district is one of the oldest and most beautiful parts of Paris, with historic city palaces, the Centre Pompidou and the Place des Vosges in the immediate vicinity.

Away from the major tourist routes, the city's queer history can be discovered, from the traces of the early emancipation movement to today's meeting places in the Marais. The highlight of the year is the Marche des Fiertés, the big Pride parade: in 2026, it will parade through the city centre on 27 June and bring hundreds of thousands onto the streets. It is embedded in the Semaine des Fiertés, which puts the whole district in a festive mood from 20 to 27 June. If you want to get to know Paris beyond the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, you will find your own approach in the Marais and in the queer history of the city. The following locations will take you to the worthwhile stations.
