Gay hotels and gay-friendly accommodation in Auckland are best located around the city centre and the adjacent neighbourhoods. If you want to live close to the scene, look around near Karangahape Road, because from there the gay bars and clubs are within walking distance. There are several larger hotels at the top of the city, so you can quickly get to K Road in the evening and quickly to the harbor or museums during the day. The city hardly has its own gay hotel industry in the narrower sense. Of course, many houses are open to this when it comes to dealing with queer guests.

But you're not committed to the city. The most queer-friendly residential area in Auckland is considered to be neighbouring Ponsonby, which offers smaller boutique houses between cafés, bars and restaurants. The adjacent Grey Lynn is also relaxed and quieter, from there it is only a few minutes walk or bus ride to Ponsonby and K Road. The choice depends on what you're looking for: for long nights in the scene, the location near K Road is most convenient, and if you like more peace and quiet and a residential area, Ponsonby or Grey Lynn are the place to be. If you're visiting during Auckland Pride in February, plan earlier as it's busier. The following selection will help you find the location and house for your stay.
