Bars & Clubs in Athen

Gay bars in Athens are clearly concentrated in Gazi, the district around the former gasworks in the west of the city center. The central axis is Voutadon Street near the Kerameikos metro station, where bars and clubs are close to each other and you can spend the evening walking from door to door. A long-time classic is Sodade2, a club with two floors, one of which focuses more on pop music and the other on electronic music. In the neighbourhood there are other well-known addresses such as the Big Bar or the BeQueer, as well as shops with drag shows and theme parties.

The evening starts late in Athens. Often, the restaurants don't really fill up until after midnight. Many guests first meet for a drink in one of the smaller bars and later move on to the larger clubs. In addition, there are regular wandering party series, which take place here and there, which is why it's worth taking a look at current announcements. Outside of Gazi, the scene is more manageable, but individual gay-frequented cafés and bars are also located in Monastiraki and in the center.
