Schloss Schönbrunn

The baroque Schönbrunn Palace was the summer residence of the Habsburgs and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can visit the magnificent rooms of Empress Sisi and Maria Theresa and walk through the extensive palace park with Gloriette and the oldest zoo in the world.
Stephansdom

St. Stephen's Cathedral is Vienna's landmark and is located in the middle of the old town on Stephansplatz. Its colourfully covered roof and the 136-metre-high south tower characterise the city's skyline. From the "Steffl" you have a great view over the whole of Vienna.
Wiener Riesenrad

The Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel at the entrance to the Prater was built in 1897 and is one of the city's most famous landmarks. From a height of 65 meters, you can enjoy a wide view over Vienna in the nostalgic carriages. It became world-famous through the classic film "The Third Man".
Gay sights in Vienna quickly lead to the Turquoise Pink Purple Villa in the fifth district. In 1982, queer activists occupied the empty house and turned it into a self-governing centre that still exists today and combines counselling, events and a café under one roof. As a symbol of the Austrian LGBT movement, the villa is a good starting point to understand the city's queer history. Also from the early movement comes HOSI Vienna, the Homosexual Initiative, which has been active since the early 1980s and organizes Vienna Pride, among other things.
If you are interested in queer culture, you should keep the date of the Rainbow Parade in mind. The first major demonstration took place in 1984, since 1996 the parade has been a fixed event and today moves along Vienna's Ringstrasse. In addition, it is worth taking a look at the Kaiserbründl in the first district, whose historic bathhouse from 1889 is also architecturally worth seeing. And of course, Vienna, with Schönbrunn Palace, Hofburg Palace and St. Stephen's Cathedral, remains a city where queer history and classic sightseeing can be combined well.
