Gay attractions in Munich are mostly located in the Glockenbachviertel, the historic center of the queer scene. The area was already considered a meeting place in the 1920s, and Germany's first gay leather bar, the Ochsengarten on Müllerstraße, has been located here since 1969. Walking through Müllerstraße and Hans-Sachs-Straße, the history of the district can be easily explored on foot, past bars, cafés and trendy shops that have been part of queer Munich for decades.

A nice focal point for a walk through the district is the Gärtnerplatz with its theater. The highlight of the queer year is Christopher Street Day: In 2026, the PolitParade will move through the city center on Saturday, June 27, embedded in the Pride Weeks, which will last several weeks. For the first time, there will be a Pride Mile on Ludwigstraße with the main stage at Odeonsplatz in front of the Feldherrnhalle. If you want to get to know Munich away from the well-known tourist destinations, you will find your own access to the city via the queer history of the Glockenbachviertel. A good connection is a stroll through the Isar meadows on the edge of the district, where the scene meets on warm days by the water. The following places will take you to the most important stations.
