Food

Gay bars in Munich are almost all located in the Glockenbachviertel, southwest of Gärtnerplatz. The centre is Müllerstraße, followed by the adjacent Hans-Sachs-Straße. Here, pub after pub is lined up, from the small corner pub to the bar, where there is really a lot going on until late. As early as the 1920s, the area was a meeting place for the gay scene. In 1969, shortly after decriminalization, Germany's first gay leather bar, the Ochsengarten, opened on Müllerstraße, which is still in operation today. Several addresses in the district have been part of the Munich scene for decades and are a reliable starting point for the evening.

In addition to the classic pubs, there are bars for dancing and the Sub, a volunteer-run gay communication and cultural center with its own bar, which is well filled, especially on weekends. Munich does not have a pronounced large-scale club culture like in Berlin, but short distances: In the Glockenbachviertel you can reach most shops on foot. Opening hours vary widely, with many bars filling up after 10 p.m. The following addresses range from a relaxed bar for the end of the day to a shop for the long night.
