The ship · Vasco da Gama

The Vasco da Gama is part of the nicko cruises fleet and offers a manageable, rather intimate atmosphere on board with around 1,000 passengers. Originally built for another tour operator, the ship later came to nicko cruises and since then has mainly served routes in the Mediterranean and on the Adriatic coast, often with destinations such as Kotor, the Albanian Riviera or the Amalfi Coast.

The Vasco da Gama is regularly transformed into a pure gay charter ship: In cooperation with the provider Spartacus Cruise, which specializes in queer travel, the entire ship is booked exclusively for gay guests, now several times in a row. Departing ports of such charter trips include Dubrovnik or Piraeus, the routes lead through popular destinations in the eastern Adriatic and the Mediterranean. On board, pool parties, theme nights and a targeted entertainment programme create an atmosphere that is very different from the ship's otherwise mixed cruises.

Frequently asked questions

How does an LGBT cruise differ from a regular one?

As a rule the entire ship is chartered — a 100% queer crowd with its own programme of DJs, drag shows and themed parties.

What is usually included?

Cabin, full board, entertainment and pool are mostly included. Premium drinks, spa and shore excursions are usually charged separately.

Is the trip suitable for solo travellers?

Yes — the solo share is high on many trips, and there are often dedicated solo meet-ups on board.

What are the cancellation terms?

That depends on the operator. You will find the exact deadlines and conditions directly with the provider.

What about safety when docking in restrictive countries?

The operators are careful about route choices. At controversial ports, shore excursions are curated thoughtfully.
