Olivia
Region
Galápagos Islands (Ecuador)
Sea lions, giant tortoises, blue-footed boobies: On Galápagos, the animals come closer to you than almost anywhere else. Olivia travels with Lindblad Expeditions, on board the National Geographic Islander II. It starts on November 26, 2027 with a hotel night in Guayaquil, followed by the flight to Baltra the next day. For a week, the ship will sail through the archipelago: North Seymour, South Plaza and Santa Fe, San Cristóbal with Punta Pitt, Floreana with Post Office Bay, Isabela with its mangroves, Santa Cruz with the Charles Darwin Research Station and finally Española. Where you go ashore, snorkel or paddle in a kayak, naturalists will accompany you; there is also a photography instructor and a ship's doctor on board. Wheelchairs and scooters are not possible as the ship does not have an elevator. Back in Guayaquil, the trip ends on December 5.

Frequently asked questions

How does an LGBT cruise differ from a regular one?

As a rule the entire ship is chartered — a 100% queer crowd with its own programme of DJs, drag shows and themed parties.

What is usually included?

Cabin, full board, entertainment and pool are mostly included. Premium drinks, spa and shore excursions are usually charged separately.

Is the trip suitable for solo travellers?

Yes — the solo share is high on many trips, and there are often dedicated solo meet-ups on board.

What are the cancellation terms?

That depends on the operator. You will find the exact deadlines and conditions directly with the provider.

What about safety when docking in restrictive countries?

The operators are careful about route choices. At controversial ports, shore excursions are curated thoughtfully.
