The ship · Amadeus Aurea

While older Danube ships usually rely on classic diesel engines, the Amadeus Aurea is one of the newer ships in the Amadeus fleet and runs particularly quietly and environmentally friendly with hybrid propulsion. With around eighty cabins and generous panoramic windows, it is aimed at guests who want to enjoy the river landscape and riverside towns in peace and quiet instead of relying on animation and mass audiences.

Providers such as Brand g Vacations regularly charter ships of the Amadeus fleet for LGBTQ+ Danube cruises between Budapest, Vienna and Passau – so far, however, other ships of the shipping company that have been in use for some time, not explicitly the Aurea. If you are looking for a queer Danube trip in the future, you should therefore ask exactly which ship is being chartered when booking. In any case, the Aurea itself offers the technical and design basis that such charter partners already appreciate on other Amadeus ships.

Frequently asked questions

How does an LGBT cruise differ from a regular one?
As a rule the entire ship is chartered — a 100% queer crowd with its own programme of DJs, drag shows and themed parties.

What is usually included?
Cabin, full board, entertainment and pool are mostly included. Premium drinks, spa and shore excursions are usually charged separately.

Is the trip suitable for solo travellers?
Yes — the solo share is high on many trips, and there are often dedicated solo meet-ups on board.

What are the cancellation terms?
That depends on the operator. You will find the exact deadlines and conditions directly with the provider.

What about safety when docking in restrictive countries?
The operators are careful about route choices. At controversial ports, shore excursions are curated thoughtfully.
