On this all-LGBT+ full charter trip, you'll explore Cambodia and Vietnam along the Mekong River. You will start in Siem Reap with an extensive visit to the temples of Angkor Wat, then board the new Mekong Symphony in Kampong Cham, which consists entirely of suites. Along the way, visit the hilltop monastery of Wat Hanchey, the village of Angkor Ban, and the capital Phnom Penh. After crossing the border, travel on sampans through the canals of Vietnam's Mekong Delta, passing Sa Dec and Vinh Long, before the trip ends in Ho Chi Minh City.

Itinerary

1
Siem Reap (Cambodia)

The Cambodian city is the gateway to the legendary Angkor Wat temple complex. Between centuries-old ruins, jungles and bustling markets, you will experience the heritage of the Khmer Empire.

2
Kampong Cham (Cambodia)

The quiet provincial town on the Mekong River in Cambodia attracts you with French colonial heritage, the old bamboo bridge and nearby temples in the middle of rice fields.

3
Angkor Ban (Cambodia)

The original river village on the Mekong in Cambodia defied the Khmer Rouge and shows you traditional wooden stilt houses and rural everyday life far away from tourism.

4
Phnom Penh (Cambodia)

Cambodia's capital on the Mekong River combines the magnificent Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda with moving history. You will experience French colonial architecture and lively city life here.

5
Sa Dec (Vietnam)

The lively market town in Vietnam's Mekong Delta beckons you with colorful flower gardens, floating markets and colonial architecture. She inspired the novel "The Lover".

6
Vinh Long (Vietnam)

The Vietnamese city is located in the heart of the Mekong Delta. From here, explore floating markets, lush orchards, and the bustling life on the river arms.

7
Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam)

Vietnam's vibrant metropolis, formerly Saigon, captivates you with its bustling street life, French colonial heritage, the Reunification Palace and lively markets.

Cambodia, Vietnam and Mekong Symphony River Cruise 2027 on video

The ship · Mekong Symphony

The Mekong Symphony sails for Uniworld Boutique River Cruises on the Mekong and offers space for up to 68 guests with 34 suites on four decks – a sister ship of the slightly older Mekong Jewel and part of the small, very high-quality fleet with which Uniworld sails on this river.

There is currently no evidence of a separate, ship-specific LGBTQ+ charter voyage for this specific ship. However, Uniworld itself is clearly positioning itself as a provider in this area: The shipping company has been cooperating with R Family Vacations for some time and promotes regular, fully chartered LGBTQ+ river cruises under the name "Out on the Rivers" – so far publicly documented, especially on the Mekong Jewel. Whether and when the Mekong Symphony is also planned for such a charter trip is not clear from the available sources.

Anyone interested in a queer trip on the Mekong will find reliable contacts via Uniworld's LGBTQ+ program – for the Symphony itself, this currently remains an option without a confirmed date.

Frequently asked questions

How does an LGBT cruise differ from a regular one?

As a rule the entire ship is chartered — a 100% queer crowd with its own programme of DJs, drag shows and themed parties.

What is usually included?

Cabin, full board, entertainment and pool are mostly included. Premium drinks, spa and shore excursions are usually charged separately.

Is the trip suitable for solo travellers?

Yes — the solo share is high on many trips, and there are often dedicated solo meet-ups on board.

What are the cancellation terms?

That depends on the operator. You will find the exact deadlines and conditions directly with the provider.

What about safety when docking in restrictive countries?

The operators are careful about route choices. At controversial ports, shore excursions are curated thoughtfully.
