Itinerary

8 stops · 7 nights

  1. 1
    Dubrovnik (Croatia) Start
    Embarkation

On Dubrovnik's city walls, you'll circle the Old Town with views of red rooftops and the Adriatic Sea. Below, Stradun, the main street of smooth limestone, leads from the Pile Gate to the Rector's Palace, and take the cable car up to Mount Srđ.

  2. 2
    Kotor (Montenegro)

Kotor is located at the innermost corner of the Bay of Kotor, surrounded by steep mountains. The old town with the Cathedral of St. Tryphon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and over about 1,350 steps you climb along the city wall up to the fortress of San Giovanni.

  3. 3
    Vis (Croatia)

Vis is one of the most inhabited islands in Croatia furthest from the mainland and was a military restricted area for a long time. That's why it has remained calm: you swim in bays like Stiniva, go to the Blue Grotto on the neighboring island of Biševo and taste the white wine Vugava.

  4. 4
    Hvar (Croatia)

The town of Hvar welcomes you with a Venetian main square, the cathedral and the arsenal at the harbor. From the Spanish fortress you can look out over the Pakleni Islands, and in summer the lavender fields in the interior of the island smell.

  5. 5
    Šibenik (Croatia)

Šibenik is considered the oldest city on the Adriatic founded by Croats. The Cathedral of St. James, built entirely of stone without brick and wood, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and from the fortress of St. Michael you can look out over the old town. Nearby are the Krka waterfalls.

  6. 6
    Rovinj (Croatia)

Rovinj is located on the west coast of Istria, its colorful houses reach down to the water. Through cobbled streets you climb up to the church of St. Euphemia, whose bell tower towers over the town, and at the harbor you taste Istrian truffles and fresh fish.

  7. 7
    Piran (Slovenia)

Piran is located on a headland in the Adriatic Sea, and its old town is Venetian. On Tartini Square stands the monument of the violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini, and from the city walls or the bell tower of St. George you can see all the way to the Alps on a clear day.

  8. 8
    Venice (Italy) Finish
    Disembarkation

In Venice, take the vaporetto across the Grand Canal, past palazzi to the Rialto Bridge. St. Mark's Square is home to St. Mark's Basilica and Doge's Palace, and on the islands of Murano and Burano, glassblowing workshops and brightly painted fishermen's houses await you.

The ship · World Traveller

The World Traveller is part of Atlas Ocean Voyages' new generation of compact expedition ships, more of a large yacht than a classic cruise giant. Around 200 guests can be accommodated on three living decks, plus a spa, fitness area and several small restaurants.

The ship gets queer visibility primarily from Brand g Vacations, the specialist operator for LGBTQ+ cruises. He books World Travellers for exclusive charter trips across the Mediterranean, typically between ports such as Venice and Malta, with stops at smaller, otherwise hard-to-reach islands and coastal towns. Only queer guests will be on board, accompanied by their own entertainment program between Broadway singing and drag shows.

Outside of this charter, World Traveller sails in the regular Atlas program and is considered gay-friendly there, without the shipping company itself having its own LGBTQ+ offer. In both cases, the small number of passengers makes the ship a more personal than noisy cruise experience.

Frequently asked questions

How does an LGBT cruise differ from a regular one?

As a rule the entire ship is chartered — a 100% queer crowd with its own programme of DJs, drag shows and themed parties.

What is usually included?

Cabin, full board, entertainment and pool are mostly included. Premium drinks, spa and shore excursions are usually charged separately.

Is the trip suitable for solo travellers?

Yes — the solo share is high on many trips, and there are often dedicated solo meet-ups on board.

What are the cancellation terms?

That depends on the operator. You will find the exact deadlines and conditions directly with the provider.

What about safety when docking in restrictive countries?

The operators are careful about route choices. At controversial ports, shore excursions are curated thoughtfully.
