The MS Koningsdam is the first ship of Holland America Line's Pinnacle class and, with over 2,600 passengers, is significantly larger than classic luxury cruisers, but moves closer to the dignified than to the noisy party ship.

For queer travelers, the ship is particularly interesting because of its recurring charter trips: The operator Atlantis Events regularly takes over the Koningsdam completely for gay-only cruises with several thousand participants, mostly with destinations such as Mexico or the Caribbean. During this charter week, the entire ship belongs to the community, including its own party, show and pool program.

Outside of these charter trips, the Koningsdam operates as a regular Holland America ship with a mixed, mixed-age audience and is also considered pleasantly unexcited. If you are looking for a pure gay cruise experience, you should look specifically for the charter dates of the specialized operators instead of booking a regular trip.
