Seville — Andalusian flair at the weekend

Gay Seville takes place mainly around the Alameda de Hércules, a long, tree-lined square in the north of the old town. Since the eighties, the area has been considered the queer district of the city and today gathers most of Andalusia's gay bars in a small space. During the day, the Alameda is a normal meeting place for coffee or beer in the sun. As soon as evening falls, the tables move outside and the atmosphere becomes mixed and relaxed. Many restaurants display the rainbow flag. The distances between the individual addresses are short.

In addition to the scene, Seville has enough for several days: the huge cathedral with the Giralda bell tower, the Royal Palace Real Alcázar and the Santa Cruz district with its narrow streets. Because Andalusia is open and tolerant, gay couples move around here without much attention. The queer highlight of the year is the Orgullo de Andalucía: in 2026, the big parade will move through the city on Saturday, June 27, in the evening, with the program at the Alameda running a few days before. If you want to avoid heat, it's better to travel in spring or autumn, because midsummer quickly gets very hot in Seville. As a base, a quarter around the Alameda or the nearby old town is a good starting point, from where you can easily reach the scene and sights on foot.
