Paris — Romance, culture and the Marais

Gay Paris revolves mainly around the Marais, the queer heart of the French capital in the 3rd and 4th arrondissements. Around the Rue des Archives, the Rue du Temple and the Rue Sainte-Croix-de-la-Bretonnerie, bar after bar is lined up, as well as cafés, restaurants and trendy shops. The neighborhood is compact and can be explored entirely on foot, making bar hopping easy. Unlike in some metropolises, the Parisian scene is clearly concentrated in this one place instead of being spread across the entire city.

For a first visit, accommodation in or near the Marais is the best choice, as bars, cafés and many sights are within walking distance. If you are planning museums and classic sightseeing, you can also live more centrally in the direction of the Louvre or Saint-Germain. In addition to the bars, the scene also includes several established saunas and queer-friendly restaurants, most of them also in the center. Paris is worthwhile all year round. However, the city is most lively in early summer. The highlight is the Marche des Fiertés, which will take place on 27 June 2026 and is embedded in the Semaine des Fiertés from 20 to 27 June. If you come at this time, you should book the accommodation early. In everyday life, you will quickly notice that Paris is open with queer guests.
