Gay Montréal

Gay Montréal combines a relaxed, francophone way of life with one of the most vibrant queer scenes in North America. The center is Le Village, the gay neighborhood along Rue Sainte-Catherine Est in the Ville-Marie district, the largest of its kind on the continent in terms of area. Here, almost everything is close together: large clubs, drag cabarets, bear and leather bars, plus saunas, cafés and restaurants. The central Beaudry metro station with its rainbow entrance is practical, from which you can quickly reach the city center and the old town. For a first visit, accommodation in the Village or in the neighboring Latin Quarter is a good base, because then you will be on foot.

The city is bilingual, French dominates everyday life, but with English you can get through everywhere, and Canada is considered a very open travel country. You can travel all year round, summer is the most beautiful with averages around 26 degrees and long evenings, while winter is hard and cold with values far below zero. If you want to experience the scene in full size, come to Fierté Montréal at the beginning of August: in 2026, the festival runs from July 31 to August 9 and fills the Village with a program. At this time, you should book the accommodation early, because the central houses are quickly taken.
