Gran Canaria — Sun and scene on the Atlantic Ocean
Gran Canaria is one of Europe's best-known queer destinations, with a mild climate all year round and a large scene in the south of the island. Ideal for a sunny weekend. This is just a rough suggestion as a starting point.
What to expect
Gran Canaria is one of the most famous queer destinations in Europe: mild climate all year round and one of Spain's biggest scenes in the south of the island. Queer life is concentrated around Maspalomas and the Yumbo Center, where boutiques are lined up during the day and bars and clubs in the evening.
It is best to stay in the area around Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas, then everything is within walking distance. Even in winter, the island attracts many because the climate remains mild; in midsummer, on the other hand, it will be much warmer in the south. A walk through the dunes of Maspalomas is a must, plus long beach days on the Atlantic Ocean and the easy change between nature and nightlife.

Gay Maspalomas
Gay Maspalomas is one of the most famous gay destinations in Europe, and not just recently. Located in the south of Gran Canaria, the town combines a dense scene, miles of beaches and a climate that remains mild almost all year round. The heart of the scene is the Yumbo Centrum in Playa del Inglés, the island's official gay district. The 1980s shopping complex is home to bars, clubs, cabarets, shops and restaurants, and in the evenings most of the nightlife takes place.
If you want to go to the beach during the day, walk through the dunes of Maspalomas to the gay beach around Kiosk 5, a fixed meeting place with a relaxed atmosphere. The overgrown areas of the dunes are also known as a cruising area. For your accommodation, Playa del Inglés is the obvious choice, because from there you can reach the scene and beach on foot. The best time to travel is actually the whole year. In summer it gets hot, in winter it stays warm at around 20 to 25 degrees, which is why many guests from northern Europe come just then. In spring, the big Pride events also attract many travelers, and if you're here for the first time, the Yumbo is the best place to start getting to know the scene.
